John O’Mara
“As designers, our role extends beyond shaping individual projects. We are custodians of the built environment, tasked with preserving and enhancing our surroundings while understanding the future impact on people’s lives and habitats.”
John O’Mara is a Principal in our London studio where he leads the Architecture discipline. Well versed in major civic, cultural, and higher education projects, John builds on Hassell’s strong foundations to enhance our sustainable design credentials while fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and further elevating our design depth and capability.
John brings 22 years of design and project management skills to Hassell that include his 15 years as Herzog & de Meuron London’s Project and Studio Director, where he worked on internationally renowned projects such as The Tate Modern Project in 2008, One Park Drive, and the Royal College of Art Studio and Research Building in London.
Before his time with Herzog & de Meuron, John spent seven years as Associate Director at Future Systems where he worked on projects spanning residential developments to education and transport.
He is a guest lecturer, tutor, mentor and critic for several design associations and schools and a London Legacy Development Corporation Design Review panel member.
John and the talented team in our London studio will collaborate on transformative projects that demonstrate the best in design — projects that will inspire and enrich the built environment, leaving a positive and lasting impact on the urban fabric.
