Zoey Chen
“The spaces and places we design need to deal with a multitude of challenges - social, cultural, political and environmental. We need to think deeply and carefully when it comes to the legacy we create for the planet, from the big ideas down to the small yet imperative details.”
Zoey began her career at Hassell as a student in the Sydney studio, where she has been able to grow her skills and expertise. Now a leader in the practice, she recently moved to Shanghai where she will continue to make an impact.
Zoey believes design excellence, client and market engagement and team leadership are equally important to achieving the best project outcomes. She has led and worked on high-profile projects globally across master planning, mixed-use, commercial and workplace, urban transport, residential and education.
With urban renewal in focus globally, Zoey brings notable experience from renewal projects such as Flour Mill of Summer Hill, Waterloo Integrated Station Development and Sixty Martin Place, to help Hassell deliver inspiring projects in China, including the Chongming Line International Competition in Shanghai.
Zoey enjoys actively mentoring and developing talent, and forging a strong team that delivers great design outcomes for clients and the community more broadly.
