Ingrid Bakker
“The most important part of any project is the client relationship. Once we really understand their needs and aspirations – where they want to go – we can create the right team to get there.”
Ingrid has worked in architecture and interior design for more than 25 years, and for more than half that time she’s been helping turn Hassell into the competitive, international design practice it is today.
One of the co-leaders of our Commercial & Workplace sector, Ingrid is a formidable presence who has also played an important part in defining our culture. One of her greatest talents is the ability to pull together a talented team – and then rally everyone around a common purpose and vision through her inclusive, ‘big picture’ approach.
That’s how she’s helped us achieve exceptional results on projects as diverse as the Australian Ballet headquarters and Medibank Place – one of the world’s healthiest workplaces.
Ingrid is a vocal advocate for diversity in design and a brilliant relationship builder, not just across our global studios but with clients, partners and the broader design community.
She’s currently the chair of the awards committee for the Australian Institute of Architects and in 2022 was admitted as a Life Fellow in their Victorian Honours. The Life Fellowship recognises those who’ve made a significant contribution to the architecture profession beyond architecture practice.
