Three projects shortlisted for ArchDaily’s Building of the Year

Voting is open to name ArchDaily’s 2021 Building of the Year, with WA Museum Boola Bardip, the Geelong Arts Centre and University of Western Australia’s EZONE in the running to take out the top spot.

Nominated amongst the Cultural Architecture crowd, WA Museum Boola Bardip has been designed by Hassell + OMA as a series of virtual​‘stories’ that guide visitors through the major galleries to experience more of the state’s collections. With its mix of heritage and contemporary architecture and vibrant communal spaces, the WA Museum Boola Bardip celebrates the unique culture, history and landscape of Western Australia and contributes to revitalising the creative heart of its capital, Perth.

the A$38.5 million Geelong Arts Centre redevelopment is a striking, translucent building that dramatically reveals a once-hidden heritage church on the site. There’s two new levels of foyer, a bar area, state-of-the-art rehearsal studios and space for arts organisations to work.

The University of Western Australia’s EZONE Student Hub - nominated under Educational Architecture - is a shared precinct providing a new western gateway into the Crawley Campus. With space for students, alumni, researchers, and industry partners to come together and thrive, EZONE was built for the connection of people and the exchange of ideas.
