Regenerative Design in focus at Perth Design Week

As part of Perth Design Week (23 – 27 March), Hassell is hosting a round table discussion to explore the ways regenerative design can help create net zero cities.

The WA McGowan Government has committed to legislating Perth as a net zero city by 2050 and introducing five-year interim targets. Public sector emissions are also to be slashed by 80% below 2020 levels by the end of the decade.

As a team of designers, strategists, and sustainability advocates, Hassell, along with our industry colleagues, has the ability to help make this happen.

Join Hassell’s Sustainable Design Leader Karla Fox-Reynolds, self-confessed sustainability nerd the Hon. Dr. Brad Pettitt MLC and environmental scientist Prof. Josh Byrne for a conversation about how Perth can transition into net zero city.

Designers, in collaboration with our industry colleagues have an important role to play to achieve this ambitious and inspirational target. The question is, how will the design industry support this journey?”

— Karla Fox-Reynolds

What kind of communities can we build if regenerative design is at the heart of our thinking? What if we demote the private car and place people, public transport, and cycling at the top? Can we get our city powered entirely by wind and sun? Are there ways to make buildings more efficient, comfortable and inclusive, and how can we embed nature and greening back into cities to make them cooler?

Bring all your big ideas and join the discussion.
