DIA 2022 Hall of Fame welcomes chairman Rob Backhouse

Chairman, Principal and Head of Design Rob Backhouse has been recognised for his enduring contributions to Australia’s design industry with an induction into the Design Institute of Australia’s Hall of Fame.

Instrumental in shaping Hassell’s ambitious design culture, Rob’s renown as an industry-leading interior designer has been acknowledged in the Design Institute of Australia’s (DIA) 2022 Hall of Fame — a showcase and celebration of the pioneers, ambassadors and contributors to the Australian design industry.

A long-standing member of the DIA, Rob’s work on collaborative, integrated projects draws on diverse disciplines and perspectives. In 2011, he received a Fellowship of the DIA; in 2014 he was made a Fellow for the International Federation of Interior Architects and Designers; and in 2017, he was awarded a gold medal in the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) – its highest honour.
