YES to the Voice to Parliament
This year Australians will have their say in a referendum on whether to update the Constitution to include an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament.
Designing for an Australian context means respectfully listening to, learning from, and working with Australia’s First Peoples. Similarly, designing policies and laws that build a truly inclusive Australia means respectfully listening to and including First Nations communities.
Hassell supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart and its call to enshrine a First Nations Voice to Parliament as one positive step in the ongoing processes of reconciliation, truth-telling and closing the gap in equality.
