Oana Gavriliu

Driven by the desire to contribute to the greater good, Oana was drawn to healthcare architecture early in her career. For her, it’s about supporting individuals through the best and worst times by creating spaces that enhance the human experience. Oana believes in the power of architecture to delight, calm and support the wellbeing of patients, their families, carers and medical staff.
Oana’s international expertise, developed over 22 years, covers a wide range of healthcare buildings and commissions across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Applying British, Australian, and US hospital design standards, Oana has worked for large architectural practices with a proven track record in healthcare design.
Oana has extensive experience in paediatric hospitals and combined women’s and children’s facilities as well as master planning significant health and innovation campuses that bring medical, education and research facilities together.
Before joining Hassell, Oana was the Health Practice Leader for Perkins&Will’s London Studio. Here she worked on Leeds Hospitals of the Future and the new James Paget University Hospital, two of the UK’s largest New Hospital Programme schemes.
Before that, Oana briefly worked for BVN Architecture, Sydney, where she was involved in the Canberra Hospital Expansion project and the Randwick Health Innovation Precinct Master Plan.
Oana also spent seven years working for BDP, London, where she was involved in the design and construction stages of the New Children’s Hospital, Dublin and the master plan and concept design for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Cancer Centre, London.
