Chloe Walsh wins the 2022 Landscape Architecture Australia Student Prize
Graduate landscape architect and University of Technology student Chloe Walsh takes top honours in the 2022 Landscape Architecture Australia Student Prize.
Congratulations to Hassell graduate landscape architect Chloe Walsh for winning the 2022 Landscape Architecture Australia Student Prize (joint national winner), which identifies and shares the finest graduating projects produced in landscape architecture education across the country.
Based in our Sydney studio on Gadigal country, Chloe’s winning project, Grassland Tales: braiding care, culture and maintenance, asks us to look a little closer at the plants that inhabit our urban spaces.
Chloe’s concept imagines the evolution of Camperdown Memorial Rest Park into an interconnected, dynamic grassland of many species where design and maintenance (care) are one and the same act.
The jury commends Chloe’s project “for its emphasis on the value of slowness, care and attention to detail in design practice. The work is a quiet yet powerful comment on the nature and direction of the landscape architecture profession.”
