Partnering with purpose
Partnering with purpose
We actively seek partnerships with like-minded organisations and businesses that share our vision of creating a better future by designing the world’s best places – places people love. We want to work together, learn from each other, advocate for change, conduct meaningful research, and share insights to fulfil our purpose authentically and effectively.
True collaboration is the foundation of regenerative practice. Partnerships grounded in shared values and goals enhance everyone’s ability to tackle complex societal challenges. By drawing on diverse expertise and networks we can amplify positive impacts on communities, economies, and the environment. This commitment was a key reason for joining the global B Corp community, aligning us with others dedicated to making a meaningful difference.
ARCHITECTS WITHOUT FRONTIERS
Architects Without Frontiers Foundation collaborates with communities with the greatest design need but with the least access to it. Together with our 14 Network and Foundation Partners, we provide design services for architectural, building and planning projects for communities that normally wouldn’t be able to afford them.
Architects Without Frontiers facilitates the design and construction of projects in Australia and around the world across our three focus areas:
- Gender, health, education and livelihoods
- Climate change and building urban resilience
- Indigenous community infrastructure
ARCHITECTURE WITH PRIDE
Hassell is proud to be an active sponsor of Architecture with Pride (AWP), which brings together the LGBTQIA+ design community in the built environment. Our Hassell Pride local communities take part in events that support and promote the inclusion of Pride members and their allies.
The AWP collective is supported by the Australian Institute of Architects, the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, the NSW Gender Equity Taskforce and the Emerging Architects and Graduate Network.
ARCHITECTS DECLARE
Architects Declare was launched in May 2019 in the UK, to bring together the architectural industry on climate issues. Hassell declared its commitment to this initiative by signing the agreement and are now one of the 800+ UK and European firms who seek to advocate for faster change in the architecture and design industry towards regenerative design practices and raising the climate emergency as a priority for government funding.
The Architecture Declare initiative has spread widely. Hassell is one of more than 30 leading Australian design practices that declared a climate and biodiversity emergency and committed to responding with action by signing Architects Declare Australia on Wednesday 24 July 2019. Australia is the third country in the world to launch Architects Declare and the first to include reference to Indigenous peoples.
The Declaration provides another impetus for critical conversation on how we can mitigate climate impacts through better and more sustainable design practices.
ARCHITECTS CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK
ACAN is a network of professionals in architecture and related fields united in tackling the twin crises of climate and ecological breakdown. Hassell collaborates with and contributes to this network, recognising it as a vital partnership for driving collective action and meaningful change. We believe that addressing these urgent challenges requires shared commitment and expertise across the industry, and ACAN’s proactive approach aligns with our dedication to sustainable, regenerative design.
UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT
Our membership with the UN Global Compact (UNGC) signifies our commitment to responsible business practices and our desire to work positively to contribute to a more sustainable future. Since joining in 2009, we have committed to upholding the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, spanning human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. This public commitment reflects our core purpose and serves as a framework for embedding sustainability into our business strategies.
Alongside over 20,000 participants in 160 countries, our engagement within the UNGC provides us with access to a global network of like-minded businesses, allowing for learning and development, collaboration, and knowledge sharing opportunities. Our ongoing participation with the UNGC also provides us with a structured means to publicly communicate our progress in implementing the Ten Principles within our business, via the annual Communication on Progress (CoP). Our CoP submissions can be found here.
