Xinxiang Cultural Tourism Center’s ‘Ice cubes’ are the architectural landmark of the new tourist district, which will be dedicated to winter sports, including a future indoor ski slope. Hassell’s Shanghai studio delivered the landscape design for this city-shaping project. There is continuity between the building and “the lake, on which the building floats and whose matter seems to have been transformed into a solid state. The metaphor of water, present in all its forms, the liquid one of the lake, the frozen one of the “ice cubes” and the vaporous one of the landscape, creates a place of pleasure and contemplation.” Read the article in L’Arca.
