The University of Queensland Global Change Institute is a ‘Living Building’ that aims to meet the Living Building Challenge sustainability criteria. It will make a positive contribution to climate and ecology as an energy provider with zero carbon and waste footprints.

The concept driving the design of the school is the sine wave – a metaphor of the simple harmonic motion of the sine wave, abstracting a mathematical phenomenon and relating it to the journey that the learner undertakes in the progression the student undertakes from Year 7 to Year 12

Extensive consultation occurred between HASSELL, the University, workplace environment strategists and key stakeholders with approximately 30 workshops held over eight weeks.
