The HASSELL brief was to design 61 luxury apartments in the Herald and Weekly Times building, located in Melbourne's 'arts precinct'. The market demand was for larger, more 'boutique' living than smaller, readily available warehouses.
The design sought to create the same comfort and space to which owners are accustomed in larger more traditional homes, but combined with a CBD lifestyle. The apartments are more akin to the image of the 'New York Loft' - large, prominently located and utilitarian in fitout. The result is a superior quality and high valued product that integrates the very best aspects of the 20th and 21st centuries with a part of Melbourne history.
